2024 Bulldogs’ Foundation ‘Harry Howell’ Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Bulldogs’ Foundation is proud to announce the 2024 recipients of our Harry Howell Scholarship. Both students are from Cathedral High School in Hamilton and have shown great leadership and citizenship during their time at Cathedral. They each received $5,000 to help start their post-secondary journeys. Please read more about them below:

Gelila Tefera is a Grade 12 student at Cathedral High School who will be attending Conestoga College in the fall for the Registered Practical Nursing Program.  She arrived in Canada from Ethiopia in 2022 and has worked diligently to improve her English and achieve honour marks in university level classes.   As soon as she arrived at Cathedral, Gelila’s kind and generous spirit was demonstrated as she began volunteering each morning at the breakfast program.  Over time, her leadership skills were a valuable asset to maintaining and building the program.  Gelila is a peer tutor for Pathways to Education Hamilton where she helps other high school students with their studies.

Steven Dinh is a Grade 12 student at Cathedral High School who is pursuing a Computer Science degree at Western University this fall.  Steven has been on the Honour Roll each of his four years at Cathedral as a result of his diligence and perseverance.  He has participated on the wrestling team and is a valuable member of Chackers, Cathedral High School’s computer programming club.  Outside of school, Steven practices karate and has achieved his black belt after several years of dedicated training and  he has volunteered as a race marshall for a number of charitable runs.
